Once the Studio firearm has been selected, it must be completely disassembled, and some of the components to be engraved must be softened prior to beginning the engraving process. It is no coincidence that Ruger firearms have a legendary reputation for toughness.

Ruger firearms are known for having some of the toughest steel in the firearms industry. It is nearly impossible to produce the fine engraving that client’s desire without first softening the metal. This process, known as annealing, reduces the metal’s hardness and provides a much more suitable condition for the engraver.

It is for this reason that we prefer to perform all our custom engraving upon new Ruger firearms. Regrettably, we cannot offer our complete engraving services for firearms which have already been sold after our complete assembly process. Please see our "Frequently Asked Questions" for more information in this regard.
